Bridging the Digital Divide - Digital Cities in Paraguay
My friend in Paraguay is working with a foundation called Paraguay Educa (http://www.paraguayeduca.org/) and One Laptop Per Child Paraguay (http://www.laptop.org/en/) to create “Digital Cities” all across Paraguay. These cities will have free universal internet access and laptops for every child and teacher.
Caacupe is the first of these, and they are already halfway done “digitizing” it.

Computers and the internet lower the barriers to entry in education and give everyone access to information. But the digital divide stops this amazing innovation short! And bridging this divide is not as tough as one might think! All we need is more people and projects like this one and we’re one step close to providing education for all.
